Department Responsibilities
The Community Development and Zoning Department is responsible for the following:
- Facilitating commercial and residential development
- Responding to zoning issues
- Accepting, reviewing, and approving Site Plans, Variances, and Special Land Use permits (through the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals)
- Accepting, reviewing, and approving Zoning Permits
- Assisting division and combination of property
- Assisting business permitting and licenses
- Maintaining the Village’s Master Land Use Plan
- Issue sign and occupancy permits
- Enforcing the Village’s Zoning, Sign, and Blight Ordinance
- Conducting zoning site inspections
- Provide the Planning Commission with the information needed to take action on activities and to formulate planning and zoning policy recommendations to the Village Council
- Maintaining Planning Commission records, Site Plans, Special Use Permits, Planned Unit Development Plans, Variances, and Rezoning requests
- Participating in the development and implementation of short and long-term plans related to capital improvements, economic development, land use planning, parks planning, and the Master Planning
