Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is an appointed body which is charged with developing and implementing the Village's Comprehensive Development Plan, otherwise known as the Master Plan. This plan provides a vision of the community's future. It is a tool for decision making on future development proposals.
The Planning Commission implements this plan through the Zoning Ordinance. Zoning is the authority to regulate private use of land by creating land use zones and applying development standards in the various zoning districts.
The Planning Commission currently has one opening. Interested residents can still apply. Applications will be retained for one year, and will be presented to the Village President in the case of a resignation. Click here to download a Village Board Application. Planning Commission Applications can be dropped off at the Village of Mackinaw City Municipal Building or emailed to Dean Martin, Community Development Director at dmartin@mackinawcity.org.
