MASTER PLAN PROCESS

The existing Comprehensive Development Plan (Master Plan) is being rewritten. The planning process will consist of public input workshops, educational sessions, draft plan review, and eventually adoption of a new Plan. This Plan guides the future development in the Village and is the basis for many decisions regarding ordinances, especially the zoning ordinance.

It will be very important to gather input from all stakeholders in the community. For those interested in taking part, please keep checking back for dates and times of meetings regarding this important process.

Master Plan Results so far...

  • Commercial Land Use Workshop - to be scheduled
  • December 13th Public Workshop
The evening presented some interesting information. Thank you to all who participated. Read a summary of the evening.
  • Master Plan Public Workshop - Results are in! Read the summary (140 kb PDF file) of our September 20th workshop.
  • Stakeholder Mail Survey - Read the results of the stakeholder survey. The survey was mailed in August, 2006, to find out what it's like to live or do business in Mackinaw City.

Process
The flow chart outlines the process. The goal of this process it to most efficiently translate public input into clear, effective implementation strategies.

Schedule
The schedule, as diagrammed below, is flexible. We will reserve necessary time to gather public input and create a plan that is thorough and effective. We expect the process to take approximately 7 months.
