ECONOMIC ASSESSMENT AND RESTRUCTURING PLAN
MISSION STATEMENT
The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) of the Village of Mackinaw City is charged with alleviating and preventing conditions of unemployment, assisting and retaining local industries and commercial enterprises, and strengthening and revitalizing the economy of the Village through any and all means provided within the corporation by-laws, while preserving and protecting natural resources.
MEETINGS
EDC meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, at 11 AM at the Village Hall, 102 S. Huron Avenue. Please call 231-436-5351 for a schedule of possible special meetings.
MARKETING PLAN
The EDC hired a consultant, Howard Kohn of the Chesapeake Group, to complete a Marketing Plan for the Village. This plan will guide the EDC's efforts to bring new year-round business and to help expand the business season for existing businesses. This plan was adopted in May of 2006.

BROWNFIELD REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
The EDC was instrumental in implementing a Brownfield Redevelopment Authority to assist in the redevelopment of any brownfield site.

Northern Lakes Economic Alliance
NLEA is a satellite office for the SBTDC (Small Business and Technology Development Centers ) in our area. Wendy Wieland is a certified business counselor and MSU Ag Innovation Counselor. Besides individual business counseling, they also offer monthly orientation sessions for start-ups.
