The Village of Mackinaw City is delighted that residents have an opportunity to recycle within the Village.
The recycling site is located behind the High School and Recreation baseball fields. The site is operated by the Emmet County Department of Public Works Reycling department and is a cooperative effort between the Village, Wawatam Township and Emmet County.
Materials accepted at the site for recyling are:
-paper
-cardboard
-aluminum cans and foil
-steel (tin) cans
-glass containers
-#1 and #2 plastic bottles, jubs and jars
Plastic #1 bottles: 2 liter soda pop bottles (remove and discard cap), cooking oil bottles, and peanut butter jars; Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE).
Plastic #2 bottles: Detergent bottles and milk jugs; High Density Polyethylene (HDPE).
Old batteries can be dropped off at the Village Hall in a designated recycle bin within the offices located at 102 S. Huron Avenue, Mackinaw City.
